+ Design Management Europe

Design Management Europe (DME) is a European project aiming to encourage entrepreneurs to integrate design into their business operations as a generator of innovation and product development.

The focus areas are the small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). Seventeen European partners collaborate in the project. The City of Eindhoven is co-initiator and project leader. Design Connection Brainport supports the City of Eindhoven in the coordination of DME activities.

DME Award 2009
Companies and organisations that integrate design in a strategic way into their business operations, can win the Design Management Europe Award, the DME Award 2009. On October 22, during Dutch Design Week, the city of Eindhoven will be the stage for this European Award. Registration is possible until September 6.

Last year, there were five Dutch organisations among the forty European winners: Senz Umbrellas, Vacuvin, Nlisis, the Municipality of Amsterdam, and TNT Post. The idea is to equal this success this year in Eindhoven.

The city of Eindhoven and European Design Centre launched the prestigious award in 2007 with support from the European Commission. The award-winning ceremony took place in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen (Germany). In 2008, the ceremony was organised in the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, in the UK. According to the Eindhoven Alderman for Design, Marriët Mittendorff, the DME Award is a great addition to the Dutch Design Week, which will be organised in Eindhoven from October 17 until October 25: "The DME Awards bring the top of European design management together. It is extremely interesting to see how the implementation of design allows businesses to produce better and more popular products and how public service organisations can optimise their services to the citizens. Take, for instance, the design of the forms of the Inland Revenue. Design increasingly often makes the difference in the way in which people experience your product or service. "

The DME Award is organised by a network of 19 organisations in 22 European countries. A Dutch selection committee will select 15 participants from all entries. An international jury will them decide who the ultimate winners are. Companies and organisations had until September 6 to register via www.designmanagementeurope.com.
